The Littlest Yak

The big small!

Gertie is young, but that's not the only thing about her. She is small compared to the rest of her herd. But Gertie has the best grip on her foot. That did not make her happy. She wishes to grow immediately, but her mother consoles her by saying it will happen when it must. And there's nothing wrong with being small. But Gertie does everything possible to become as big as her family members. Then one day, she understood her mother was correct.

We picked this book based on its title. Little Gertie is one of those kids who is self-conscious about her size until she realizes it is the only way she can accomplish something as monumental as saving a life. The charming and enjoyable illustrations will undoubtedly make children fall in love with the little yak.

The beautifully illustrated The Littlest Yak by Lu Fraser and Kate Hindley teaches children the importance of accepting themselves to enjoy every moment of life.
