The Good Fortune

Sweet memories!

Frannie and her brother, Willie, loved visiting their favorite aunt. Aunt Lea told them stories and made them play games, which she always turned into exciting lessons. On one visit, the duo played a board game with their aunt and her assistant, Ms. Minnie. When Frannie rolled the dice, seven magical places suddenly appeared. Frannie chose a beautiful garden, and they got transported there. But something went wrong when Willie rolled the dice.

We picked this book for its theme. The story will remind us of our visits as a child to our grandmama’s homes, the aromatic smell of food, and those bedtimes that ended with nourishing stories. Aunt Bea also completes the grand adventure with an important lesson for young children.

The Good Fortune by Shawana Davenport is a colorfully illustrated, nostalgic story of a little girl that stimulates creativity and encourages fearlessness.
