This is the story of young Grillie, a grilled cheese sandwich that lives in Griddleville. Despite being one, Grillie doesn’t feel like a grilled cheese. She watched her peers find their perfect side dishes and live like grilled cheese. But Grillie wouldn’t accept it. She went all around the world and came back home to find the truth about herself.
This book narrates the journey of self-discovery from the point of view of a young cheesy sandwich. It subtly encourages children to follow their own path and be whoever they want.
One Grillie by Sandy Reitman, filled with brilliant illustrations and powerful messages, is a fantastic read.
