My Powerful Hair

Connect to the past!

The little girl is excited about growing her hair. According to her ancestors, longer hair enabled them to connect better with Mother Earth. Hair also can connect one with one's people and life events. For instance, her baby brother was born when the little girl's hair grew long enough to touch her shoulders. Hair symbolizes strength, as shown when the little girl cut some of her hair and offered it to her grandfather when he passed away.
