Unbreakable Ties

Break the barriers.

Kaliah and Kaliese, sisters, and cousin Siobhan were great friends. They were princesses who lived in adjoining castles and always played together. When a dangerous virus struck the Earth one day, the king ordered that everything in the kingdom be shut down to protect its citizens. It confined the two sisters and cousin to their respective residences. They wanted to see each other, but they couldn't anymore.

We picked this book for its title. The tale discusses how Covid hurt relationships, particularly with young children who struggled to cope with isolation because of the lockdown. The story is easy-to-read for young children, with some interesting illustrations.

Unbreakable Ties by Minnie Ransom is a straightforward narrative about the Covid era and how relationships were sustained. Eva Demel's contrasting illustrations give an exciting touch.
