A giant sea squid pursues Chester and his octopus companion, Roger. They tried to speed up, but the squid tossed a message bottle and vanished. When Chester opened the bottle, he discovered a mysterious message, set sail for the Lazy Lagoon, and arrived there a few days later. What he found on the island astounded him. He needed to move quickly to fix the problem.



We picked this book based on the first book in this series. Chester advances his pirate career in this series by guarding his clan's treasures. Children who like pirates are going to enjoy reading it. The illustrations work well with the storyline.



Children will enjoy Chester's adventures and may learn pirate and sea vocabulary in Never Take a Pirate's Pearls by Ann P Borrmann, illustrated by Tracee Guzman.
